Your eyes are not just windows to your soul; they can also clue other people in on how young or old you are. Take care of your peepers with these tips:
1. Stay out under direct sunlight.
Constant direct exposure to the sun’s harmful rays can cause sun damage and facial wrinkles to form. Use an umbrella or wear a wide-brimmed hat as you go about your day in the sun. If possible, avoid staying outdoors for unnecessarily long periods of time.
2. Wear sunglasses when going out
The skin under your eyes is thin and sensitive, which makes them more prone to wrinkles and dark circles. Prolonged exposure of your eye area to the sun increases your chances of eye wrinkling and discoloration. 3. Never squint your eyes.

Dehydration causes water retention which results in swelling and puffiness in the face, especially in the eye area. In order to reduce the appearance of puffiness around your eyes, drink plenty of water throughout the day. As much as possible, reduce your intake of salty foods and caffeine as these cause dehydration. Also, be sure to get enough sleep every night as lack of sleep can increase water retention, thus leading to puffiness around your eye area.
6. Use a good face moisturizer twice a day.
As you get older, your skin’s natural moisturizer and sunscreen decreases in production. Use a hydrating facial moisturizer around your eye area to protect your skin from the sun’s rays as well as minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Apply some on your entire face once during the day along with sunscreen before going out into the sun and once during the night before going to sleep.
Other moisturizers and skincare products contain beneficial ingredients that can help with fine lines and wrinkles. 7. Use a sunscreen with UVA/UVB protection every day.
For added sun protection, especially at the beach, wear sunscreen with SPF protection and both UVA and UVB protection.
